Gs-4 : Ethics- Ethical Concerns: Why GenAI threatens originality in art

🅾️GenAI models are trained on vast datasets that often include human-generated art without consent. This undermines artistic agency, violating the basic principle of ownership: “One should have a say over how their creation is used.”

🅾️AI-generated images in the style of Studio Ghibli mimic the aesthetic but lack the emotional, cultural, and experiential roots. Viewers may mistake AI outputs for genuine art, creating false equivalence, and in the process, dilute the value of original creators.

🅾️Artists who build new styles invest years, yet their work becomes training fodder for AI, with no credit, royalties, or control. This is tantamount to digital appropriation – ethical plagiarism at scale.

🅾️Cheap GenAI output reduces demand for human-created art.

⚠️What should we do?- Cultivate markets that reward authentic narratives and subjective originality.

Gs-3 : Disaster management - Heatwaves

🅾️Nothing new- We covered many times-

🅾️What is a heatwave?- A climate shock + a governance failure + a design problem

🅾️Root Cause: Cities are built like ovens-asphalt, glass, lack of trees = heat island effect-Water isn't accessible, Medical alerts don’t reach slum areas, Labour laws don’t pause outdoor work, Buildings aren’t ventilated—> No Early warning-> No action -> Death.
🚫 Civic systems fail to translate alerts into behavioral change.

⚠️What not to do: Stop saying “climate change is to blame” without naming who is accountable -> Don’t rely on centralised plans; the heat kills hyper-locally-> Don’t wait for 2024’s death toll to issue a 2025 budget allocation

Gs-2 : Governance- Issues with District mineral funds

🅾️When minerals are mined from tribal/rural land, economic value is extracted, but the social cost is local. So if you dig there, the fixes should be local too.

⚠️Parliament passed the MMDR Act, 2015 to set up DMFs — meant to reinvest mining profits into local health, education, water, livelihood. But DMFs are run by bureaucrats — the same people who clear mining projects.

🌟Result? Conflict of interest + top-down control = locals excluded. Funds follow bureaucratic ease, not moral urgency. Only ~40% utilised. Projects often irrelevant or half-done.

⚜️What should’ve been a tool for justice is now a missed opportunity. It forgot that development must be owned by the displaced, not just designed for them

Gs-2 : Centre- state relations- The office of Governor

🅾️COMPREHENSIVE OVERVIEW- Multiple issues around governor-

🅾️What does Article 200 allow the Governor to do when a Bill is presented? The Governor has three choices:

⚜️Assent to the Bill

⚜️Withhold assent

⚜️Reserve the Bill for President’s consideration (discretionary power, but limited)

👉 This discretion is not absolute and is subject to constitutional morality and the aid and advice of the Council of Ministers (Article 163).

🔰SC-imposed timeline:

⚜️One month: To assent or withhold (with reasons)
⚜️ Three months: To return the Bill if rejected, giving reasons
⚜️ Three months: To reserve for President’s consideration

🚫 No indefinite discretion or delay allowed.

🅾️When airlines in India can’t pay their debts, the companies that lease them planes (called lessors) struggle to take their planes back.Lessors had to go through slow Indian courts, which caused Huge losses to the lessors, fear among global investors, difficulty for indian airlines to get new planes on lease.

🅾️India had signed a global agreement in 2008 called the Cape Town Convention, which says: If an airline doesn’t pay, the lessor should get the aircraft back fast. But India never actually made a law to implement this agreement.

🅾️Now what happens after this new law?- An airline misses payments-> No need to wait months or years in court.

Gs-3 : Internal security/ Forest rights act

⚠️Note : Even if a tribal moves states, there is no clause in FRA that disqualifies them by default.Rule 3(1)(m): Specifically grants: “In case of displacement... the right to in situ rehabilitation including alternative land, before such eviction or displacement.” FRA does not explicitly mention cross-state portability of forest rights. It does not prohibit displaced persons from being resettled or claiming forest rights in another state either. Hence, the intent of FRA = protection of tribal life and habitat, not territoriality of status.
